In cases of International Child Abduction (ICA), children face several challenges: conflict, separation, exclusion from major decisions, confrontation with the justice system, and integration into new environments. It is crucial for parents, professionals and authorities to take the best interest of the child as a priority throughout all stages of an abduction process in order to minimize harm and maximise the well-being of abducted children.
The iCare Conference: Judicial Cooperation and Family Mediation in International Child Abductions will present the results of the project, including methodology, recommendations and activities conducted over the past two years to improve the situation of children in ICA cases. The project consortium will discuss the project objectives and show the iCare online tools – chatbots for parents and children that aim to better inform them of their rights, and the e-platform for professionals dealing with ICA cases to improve exchange and cooperation. In addition, external experts will share their expertise on international standards and European frameworks related to ICA and international family mediation.

The iCare project aims to develop and implement a set of comprehensive tools and activities to enhance the condition of children in relation to International Child Abduction by promoting judicial cooperation and by integrating International Family Mediation as an adjunct to legal proceedings.
